The American mink (Mustela vison) is an introduced species in the Czech Republic. It originates from North America and its feral populations have been established through escape from fur farms in various European countries. American mink is considered as pest species. The aim of the project is to decrease the predation of native fauna by mink in two small areas by eradication of its population. Moreover as there are no guidelines for the eradication of the species in the Czech Republic, the project is considered as a pilot one and the guidelines for effective eradication of the species should be developed.
